Engineering for Singapore companies.

Singapore is where APAC product decisions get made and where the engineering budget rarely stretches as far as the ambition. Five and a half hours of shared afternoon, English as the working language, and a regulator whose expectations are specific rather than vague — all of which suits a supplier that documents what it does.

§ 01Working with Singapore

Hours, money,
and paperwork.

The three things that decide whether a cross-border engagement works, answered before you ask. Everything here is specific to Singapore rather than a global average.

Time overlap

12:30–18:00 SGT

Singapore is two and a half hours ahead of IST, so the overlap sits in your afternoon rather than your morning. Our day opens at your 12:30 and your 18:00 is our 15:30 — five and a half hours of shared time, every day. Your morning is outside our working day and runs on written reporting, which in practice means you brief in the morning and see movement after lunch.

Currency and tax

SGD or USD

Quoted and invoiced in Singapore or US dollars. Because the service is exported from India it carries no Indian tax, so the invoice total is the contracted fee. As a non-resident supplier we do not charge Singapore GST; reverse charge applies if your business is GST-registered.

Data protection

Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA)

Our role
Processor, on your instructions

Named sub-processors, written consent before any addition.

We act as a data intermediary under PDPA, processing only on your instructions, with a data processing agreement naming every sub-processor. Transfer limitation obligations are met through contractual safeguards, and data residency in Singapore or the region is agreed at contract. For financial services engagements, MAS Technology Risk Management and Outsourcing guidelines shape the controls we design to — including audit rights and exit provisions, which we accept rather than negotiate away.

§ 02What your procurement will ask

Answered
before you ask.

The questions we are asked most often from Singapore, answered straight. Where we do not hold something, it says so.

MAS TRM and outsourcing alignment

For regulated financial institutions we design to MAS TRM guidance and accept the outsourcing obligations that come with it: audit and inspection rights, defined exit and transition provisions, and sub-contracting transparency. These are written into the agreement, not appended as a comfort letter.

Data intermediary obligations

We contract explicitly as data intermediary, with protection and retention obligations spelled out and every sub-processor named. Adding one requires written consent.

Audit rights

Accepted. You may audit, or appoint an auditor, against the ISO 27001 control set and the engagement's specific commitments. We would rather be audited than asked to be trusted.

Exit and transition

Runbooks, architecture notes, decision records and monitoring configuration are contractual deliverables from the start. A documented handover is a phase of the method, not a favour at the end.

§ 03What Singapore asks us for

The problems
that arrive.

The work that comes to us from Singapore most often. If one of these is yours, send us the brief.

01

Regional platform consolidation

A product that grew market by market and now runs as four divergent codebases. The work is a single platform with locale, currency and regulatory variance as configuration.

02

Fintech and payments engineering

Money movement, reconciliation and audit trails where MAS expectations shape the architecture. Testing and observability are scoped as first-class work.

03

Applied AI with a compliance layer

Model-backed features that must explain themselves. Retrieval grounded in cited sources, evaluation harnesses before rollout, and cost budgets per call path.

Why Singapore works with us

  • Audit rights and exit provisions accepted as standard, which is where most outsourcing conversations in regulated Singapore stall.
  • Documentation as a deliverable — runbooks, decision records, architecture notes — which is exactly what a MAS-facing team needs to evidence.
  • Five and a half hours of shared afternoon, so a review raised at lunch is closed the same day rather than overnight.
Where we are not the right answer

No Singapore entity and no local office, so we are a cross-border supplier with India as the default governing jurisdiction. We are not a licensed financial services technology provider; where an engagement requires one, we work behind a prime that is. Our regional product experience is Indian and Gulf, not South-East Asian.

§ 04Singapore · Questions

Asked from
Singapore.

Answers open with the answer. The general set — pricing, process, IP, security — is on the FAQ.

Are you compliant with Singapore's PDPA?
We contract as a data intermediary under PDPA, processing personal data only on your instructions under a data processing agreement that names every sub-processor and requires written consent before another is added. Protection and retention obligations are explicit, transfer limitation is met through contractual safeguards, and Singapore or regional data residency is agreed at contract rather than assumed.
Can you work to MAS technology risk requirements?
Yes, for engagements with regulated financial institutions. We design to MAS Technology Risk Management guidance and accept the outsourcing obligations that follow: audit and inspection rights, defined exit and transition provisions, and full sub-contracting transparency. These go into the agreement rather than a side letter. We are not ourselves a licensed provider — where that is required, we work behind a prime that is.
How much of our working day overlaps with yours?
Five and a half hours, from your 12:30 to your 18:00. Singapore is two and a half hours ahead of India, so our working day starts in the middle of yours and ends after it. The overlap is your afternoon, not your morning — brief us before lunch and you will see movement the same day rather than the next.
