Cookie
policy.
Four categories, each one off until you allow it. This page names every cookie we set, how long it lasts, which consent signals we send, and how to change your mind in one click.
Only strictly necessary storage loads before you decide. Functional, analytics, and marketing categories stay denied until you switch them on, and marketing is not in use at all. Your choice is stored on your device under cognimit.consent with a version and timestamp, and applied through Google Consent Mode v2. You can reopen the preferences panel at any time from the footer or from this page.
Nothing beyond strictly necessary loads before consent
On your first visit, only strictly necessary storage is used. Functional, analytics, and marketing storage stay denied until you allow them in the consent banner or the preferences panel. Analytics scripts are not fired, and no measurement cookie is written, before that decision.
Declining is a complete answer. The site works with every optional category switched off, and you are not asked again for the life of that consent record.
The four consent categories
Each category is independent. Switching one on does not switch on another, and the panel records exactly the combination you choose.
AStrictly necessary
Always onRequired for the site to function — routing, security, load balancing, and remembering this consent choice.
- Used for
- Session integrity, CSRF protection, consent record.
- Retention
- Session to 12 months
BFunctional
Off until you allow itRemembers preferences you set, such as colour theme and language, so the site behaves consistently on return.
- Used for
- Theme selection, language preference, dismissed notices.
- Retention
- Up to 12 months
CAnalytics
Off until you allow itAggregated usage measurement via Google Analytics 4 — which pages are read, where sessions end. IP addresses are anonymised.
- Used for
- Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*), Vercel Analytics.
- Retention
- Up to 14 months
DMarketing
Off, and not currently usedAttribution and advertising measurement. Cognimit does not currently run advertising cookies; this stays denied unless that changes.
- Used for
- Not currently in use.
- Retention
- Not applicable
Google Consent Mode v2
We implement Google Consent Mode v2. Every storage signal starts denied except security_storage, and your choices are applied as a consent update before any measurement runs.
- analytics_storage
- Granted only with Analytics consent
- ad_storage
- Granted only with Marketing consent
- ad_user_data
- Granted only with Marketing consent
- ad_personalization
- Granted only with Marketing consent
- functionality_storage
- Granted only with Functional consent
- personalization_storage
- Granted only with Functional consent
- security_storage
- Always granted
Strictly necessary for security and session integrity.
Because marketing is not in use, ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization remain denied in practice even if you allow the Marketing category.
Changing or withdrawing consent
You can change your mind at any time, and withdrawal is as easy as consenting. Use the preferences panel, from the footer of any page or from here:
Browser-level controls work independently of our panel. In most browsers you can:
- Block or delete cookies for a specific site, or for all sites
- Clear site data, which removes our consent record and resets the banner
- Refuse third-party cookies, or run a private window that discards them
You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to block Analytics measurement across every site you visit.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. Strictly necessary storage cannot be switched off, because the site cannot function without it.
Consent is versioned
Every consent record carries the policy version it was given under. The current consent version is 2. If we change what we set, why we set it, or who processes it, we raise the version. Records written under an earlier version are treated as absent, the banner appears again, and your choices are collected fresh under the new terms.
Clearing your browser storage has the same effect: with no valid record, nothing optional loads and you are asked again.
